Keep leaves and insects out, while sending more clean rainwater into your tank. The 150mm Leaf Eater Commercial with the Hood is a large-capacity rain head designed for bigger downpipes and higher-flow systems, with a hooded design that helps reduce splashing and improve water capture in exposed areas.
Made from Polypropylene plastic, it combines an angled leaf-shedding screen with a protective hood, so you still get the screening performance Rain Harvesting is known for, but with better control of water as it enters the head.
That makes it a smart fit for commercial-style installations, large homes, sheds, or any setup where water flow, safety, and tidy presentation all matter.

How the Leaf Eater Commercial with Hood Works
This rain head is built to screen out leaves and insects before they can enter your tank or pipework, while still allowing strong water flow through the system.
- The Hood helps minimise splashing, which is especially useful near walkways, work areas, or visible parts of the home where excess spray can be messy or become a slipping hazard.
- The Angled Screen sheds debris away from the flow path, helping the unit keep working efficiently between cleans.
The Hood can also be removed without tools for routine cleaning, and the Screen can be removed when a more thorough wash is needed.

How to Install Your Leaf Eater Commercial with Hood
Installation is straightforward, but it pays to get the position right first.
- The unit should be installed either directly under the eave or partway down the downpipe, with the bottom of the screen at least 500mm above the tank inlet and overflow level so there is enough head pressure to move water through the system properly.
- Before fixing the unit to the wall, make sure the downpipe is offset about 30mm from the wall so the pipe can enter the rain head cleanly.
- The lower pipe is cut and bracketed first, then the rain head body is inserted, marked, and fixed securely to the wall structure using suitable fasteners for the wall type.
- The upper pipe should finish at least 20mm below the top of the Hood when installed.
- Once the body is secure, slide the Hood up the top pipe, then lower the skirt into the channel around the screen so it sits evenly all the way around.

How to Maintain Your Leaf Eater Commercial with Hood
This unit is designed to be easy to maintain.
- For light debris, you may only need to lift the Hood and brush the screen clean without fully dismantling the unit.
- If the Screen has built up heavier debris, remove the Hood, undo the perimeter screws and the rear screws, then take the Screen out for cleaning with a hose or by tapping debris loose.
After cleaning, press the Screen back in evenly so it sits flush, secure it with the screws, and refit the Hood so the skirt sits neatly in the screen channel.
As with any rain head, regular checks after heavy leaf fall or storms will help keep water flowing freely and reduce strain on the rest of the system.
