The 400mm Easy Fit Solar Shield (TSEF04) is an add-on component of the 400mm Easy Fit Tank Screen System. It is also included in some of the many kit combinations available.
Designed to fit under the tank screen of your Easy Fit Kit, the Solar Shield’s innovative design maximises the flow of rainwater into your tank while keeping sunlight out to prevent algae and calming the water entering your tank.
Note: This product is compatible with metal rainwater tanks with a top panel thickness of 0.6mm, and an inlet hole diameter of 375mm +/-5mm.

Blocks out sunlight helping to prevent algae growth
Sunlight stimulates the growth of algae in stored water so it is important to exclude as much light as possible from the interior of your tank. Normally, sunlight can easily enter the tank via the tank screen, but with the solar shield you can see how much of the sunlight can be blocked out.
Calms water inflow to prevent sediment resuspension
During a rain event, new inflowing water can disturb sediment at the bottom of your tank, spreading it throughout the water. The clever design of the solar shield calms the flow of water and disperses the water more evenly into your tank which prevents the resuspension of sediment that may have settled on the base of your tank. This allows your pump to draw on cleaner water.

I ordered a $20 item plus transport from Tank Shop.
It arrived in Melbourne 2 days later and sat in the transport company’s warehouse for 2 weeks, waiting for delivery 15km away! Malessa at Tank Shop rang and emailed them each day of the second week, along with my emails to them to speed up delivery. Tank Shop offered a replacement item, sent by another transport company the day before the item arrived. Really?
