Discover the innovative First Flush Carrot, a compact, low-maintenance rainwater diverter, designed to keep dirty roof water away from your tank while taking up minimal space. Unlike traditional first flush chambers, the First Flush Carrot installs directly onto your downpipes and uses a clever system of grommets to measure water flow and automatically divert clean water to your tank. The device features “The Tee” – an anti-skipping, sloping design that ensures effective capture of dirty water. Best of all, it automatically resets after each rainfall event, giving you cleaner water with less hassle and maintenance.
This kit fits 100mm downpipes. 90mm First Flush Carrot also available.

How to use the First Flush Carrot Grommets
The First Flush Carrot comes with interchangeable grommets that allow you to customise your water diversion system for optimal performance. Here’s how they work:
Filling Grommets control water flow into the carrot:
- Grommet A (smaller hole) = diverts more water by filling slowly
- Grommet B (larger hole) = diverts less water by filling quickly
Draining Grommets control how fast water exits the carrot:
- Options 0-3 with progressively larger holes
- Larger holes = faster reset time and less maintenance
- A draining wick is also available for very low rainfall areas
The system comes pre-configured with Filling Grommet A and Draining Grommet 2 for balanced performance, but you can easily adjust both grommets to match your specific rainfall conditions and roof pollution levels.
